2007A0081 Begins &Dogs Die

Billman has begun his omega-3 protocol with the arrival of the first dog in September 2007.

The dog identified by the USDA Tag of 2944 arrived 9/10/07.

Robert Perry delivered two dogs (3011 & 3014) to OSU & Billman on 12/3/07. Dog 3014 is listed as a female mongrel hound.

On Dec. 11th dog, 3014 is killed. 3011 & 2944 are killed on the 12th.

We are unsure which portion of the protocol was followed with these dogs. Here is a timeline of the dogs life after they arrive at OSU.

• acclimated to the vivarium for at least 4 days prior to surgery
• surgery is performed which implants the balloon
• Approximately two weeks after surgery the animals are transported to the laboratory. In the lab the dogs are trained to run the treadmill.
• Echocardiography studies will be conducted 3-4 weeks after surgery. They are repeated 30, 60 and 120 days after the feeding with the omega-3 fatty acids or placebo diets begin.
• When studies and other procedures, including heart fibrillation/defibrillation, all dogs are killed

Dog 3017 arrived on Dec. 13th, 2007 and on January 9th, 2008 it is noted by an associate, "I found dead in cage."

It should be noted that POET is currently only receiving the disposition records after the dogs have died or been killed, so more dogs are more than likely further along in the experimentation process. We will be requesting additional data concerning the dogs Billman has received.
