Podell Collaborators

This data has been pulled from NIDA Grant Application, 1 R01 DA13815-01, for Michael Podell, A Feline Model of NeuroAIDS and Drug Abuse.

*Dr. Lawrence Mathes, Professor, Department of Veterinary Biosciences, College of Veterinary Medicine. He will provide support and expertise for immunologic and virologic studies of the experiment.

*Dr. Mana Hadjiconstaninou-Neff, Professor, Department of Psychiatry, College of Medicine. She will provide support and expertise for the neurochemistry studies of the experiment.

Dr. Richard Sams, Professor, Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences, and Director, Analytical Toxicology Laboratory College of Veterinary Medicine. He will provide support and expertise for the methamphetamineanalytic and pharmacokinetic studies of the experiment.

Dr. Martin Sarter, Professor, Departments of Psychology and Psychiatry, College of Medicine. He will provide support and expertise for the neurobehavioral studies of the experiment.

Podell Consultants

Dr. Stan Lemeshow, Professor, Department of Statistics, and School of Public Health. He will serve as a consultant for the biostatistical analysis of this experiment.

Dr Bryan Yamamoto, Professor, Department of Psychiatry, College of Medicine, Case Western University, Cleveland, Ohio. He will provide consultation support and expertise for the overall study design, and in particular, for determination of excitotoxicity neurodegeneration. From his letter to Podell he writes,"we have been studying the effects of methamphetamine in rats ..."

Dr. Norman Uretsky, Professor, Division of Pharmacology, College of Pharmacy. He will provide consultation on the dosing and behavioral effects on methamphetamine for this experiment. Dr. Uretsky is an established scientist in the field of methamphetamine behavioral studies.
